How I work.
Our work together will be collaborative. While I will bring all my heart, knowledge and expertise, you are the expert in your own experience, so your engagement in and commitment to the process is essential.
As noted above, coaching is a process, and it requires patience and gentleness. While I will offer practical tools and techniques to relieve any immediate distress, the real growth emerges over time as you learn to navigate your internal and external world more skillfully. Trust in the process, and patience, is essential.
I have a relaxed, interactive and warm demeanor and I adapt my approach to your individual needs and desired outcomes. A strong and safe relationship is essential to our work, and I prioritize creating and maintaining a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental atmosphere.
Our work won’t always be easy or feel comfortable: at times I will challenge you to think about things that may feel uncomfortable or suggest making shifts that are outside your comfort zone. These challenges will always be expressed with care and in the spirit of nudging you toward growth and positive change. However, you’re in the drivers seat, and can choose how fast or slow we move.
Practicing what I preach.
My own self-care is essential to my work and I take it seriously. Taking care of myself allows me to be fully present with you and bring my healthiest, most effective self into our work together. I keep my patient load small in an effort to have time each week to reflect on the work I’m doing, to plan, to continue my learning via reading, retreats, seminars and workshops, to consult with colleagues, and to attend to my own emotional and physical needs through a variety of means such as meditation, exercise, therapy and social connection.
